Breathes corrosive gas in a cone.
Cone length: (level based) tiles
Cone angle: (level based) degrees
Cooldown: 15 rounds
Corrosive Breath is a mutation which fires corrosive gas into a large cone-shaped area. This mutation is the signature ability of tartbeards. The corrosive gas has a gas density of 80. Additionally, this mutation grants +2 acid resistance per mutation level.[1]
This mutation can also be acquired temporarily by cooking with acid, tartbeard gland paste, or concentrated tartbeard gland paste.
Passively, a creature with this mutation gains a bonus to acid resistance. However, their gear can still be affected.
When cooking with tartbeard glands, one can expect the following guaranteed results:
Ingredients cooked with | Effect | Cone Characteristics |
---|---|---|
tartbeard gland paste | Level 5 Corrosive Breath, 10 acid resistance | 30° cone, 9 tiles long |
concentrated tartbeard gland paste | Level 10 Corrosive Breath, 20 acid resistance | 40° cone, 14 tiles long |
tartbeard gland paste + concentrated tartbeard gland paste | Level 15 Corrosive Breath, 30 acid resistance | 50° cone, 19 tiles long |
The following formulas are used to determine breath cone characteristics based on mutation level.[2][3]
Formula | |
---|---|
Breath Cone Length | 4 + Level

Breath Cone Angle | Level × 2 + 20°
