Esper
You only manifest mental mutations.
Esper is a morphotype that limits the player to only being able to acquire mental mutations and defects. It can be chosen upon character creation. This does not affect temporary physical mutations gained from equipment or cooking.
Tips
This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
Advantages
- This morphotype limits the random mutations you gain after character creation to mental mutations, removing potentially undesired physical mutations from the random pool
- Characters with high Ego scores and a focus on mental mutations can take this to guarantee that any random mutations they gain later on will synergize with their Ego bonus
Disadvantages
- Your random mutations are limited to only mental mutations for the rest of your character's life, which may end up limiting your options for allocating MP or even preventing you from doing so altogether
- You cannot take physical mutations or defects during character creation, either
- As such, you cannot take advantage of the free levels granted by rapid advancement.
- Every time you take a new mutation, your Psychic Glimmer score will increase
- "Generalist" mutants are less likely to be forced to take bad mental mutations since they're offered physical filler
