You gain access to dueling stance. While wielding a long blade in your primary hand, you get +2 to hit with long blades and short blades. |
Dueling Stance is a toggled skill in the Long Blade tree. While active and holding a long blade in the primary hand, the user gains +2 to hit on all melee attacks made with long and short blades. It upgrades into Improved Dueling Stance, which provides an extra +1 to hit. Only one stance may be active at a time - using Dueling Stance will disable Aggressive or Defensive Stance. Additionally, all stance skills substantially change the effects of Lunge and Swipe, please read those pages for details.
Tips
- Dueling Stance is useful for builds with lower Agility, as it provides as much of a bonus to hit as 4 points of agility would.
- Dueling Stance Lunge and Swipe are guaranteed to hit and penetrate at least once, allowing targets with lower health but high AV or DV to be killed much more easily
- Dueling Stance is exceptionally useful for farming bits for tinkering, as its Swipe can be used to disarm turrets so that their weapons may be deconstructed.
Factions That Teach Dueling Stance
Dueling Stance is not taught by any of Qud's persistent factions. However, procedurally generated factions such as village factions can teach randomly chosen skills as part of their water ritual.
