    Mechanimists

The Mechanimists are a religious faction centered within Qud and mainly comprised of mutant humanoids. The faction is first encountered through the Mechanimist convert who appears in the player's starting village and grants the quest O Glorious Shekhinah! They prominently gather at the Six Day Stilt at the edge of Moghra'yi, the Great Salt Desert, and at other late-game dungeons, and converts to the faith can be found scattered across the map of Qud.

Legendary Mechanimists do not typically have lairs, instead showing up in the open wandering towards the Six Day Stilt. The journal will not update with their location if one is spotted. Dynamically generated Legendary Mechanimists spawn with one Eaters' nectar injector in their inventory.

    Beliefs and Practices

There are three branches of Mechanimism which appear in the game. The two major branches are represented game-mechanically as the same faction.

The main branch gathers primarily in the Six Day Stilt. The most powerful preacher there is the High Priest, Eschelstadt II, High Priest of the Stilt. They worship the six Argent Fathers, especially Shekhinah. The majority of their beliefs can be found within the homilies shouted by various Mechanimist preachers, as well as the The Canticles Chromaic, Verses XVII-XXIV that is found in the inventory of zealots and preachers. According to them, the Kasaphescence created technology. Because of their godly origins, mortals are undeserving of possessing or using these artifacts. This does not affect their combat AI; all Mechanimists will use artifacts if they are equipped.

There is a separate branch that resides within the depths of Bethesda Susa instead, which they consider a holy place. This branch is led by Phinae Hoshaiah, High Priest of the Rock. According to his look description, they believe that one of the Argent Fathers is currently inhabiting the baetyl there; which one is not specified. Jacobo says they no longer recognize Eschelstadt II, High Priest of the Stilt, though performing the water ritual with Echelstadt will still contribute to their friendliness.

The third branch of belief views the Argent Fathers as only earthly beings, and worships only the Kasaphescence as a deity.[1] Jacobo is the only known member of this branch. Game-mechanically, his faction affiliation does not include the Mechanimists.

Sheba Hagadias's publication note for Council at Gamma Rock dates it to 999 YK. The YK era system is also used by the Corpus Choliys (the reader's note dates itself to 56 YK). YK has an uncertain relationship with other era systems, but the 943-year gap between the two known uses suggests that Mechanimism has existed since, at the latest, a few decades after Resheph.

The books Corpus Choliys, In Maqqom Yd, The Murmurs' Prayer, and Fauns of the Meadow mention that they were preserved by the Monastery of the Illustrious Heart of Chrome. The monastery does not appear in game.
