defanged girshling

Star orchid saliva pools in the cavities where its fangs used to be and drips onto pallid leg-things. It shudders in the capture of some pristine ecstasy lost to space and time, and it lets out a proud and piercing whine.

Perfect

A defanged girshling is a creature belonging to the Girsh and arachnids factions. Defanged girshlings can be found within the salt marsh, and a special variety can always be found on the bottom level of Red Rock.[1]

Defanged girshlings attack in melee with their claws, natural short blade weapons that deal ♥1d61-6 (Avg: 3.5) damage each.[2]

They are swarmers, meaning a defanged girshling will receive a +1 bonus to their to-hit and penetration rolls for every other swarmer adjacent to their target.[3]

Red Rock Girshling

A special variety of defanged girshling can be found on the 4th strata of Red Rock, and is integral to the What's Eating the Watervine? quest. Seeing one of these girshlings will automatically fulfill the "Find the Vermin" step of the quest.[2]

The defanged girshlings found in Red Rock are identical to other defanged girshlings, save for the fact that they have a 100% chance to drop a defanged girshling corpse on death,[2] which is required to complete What's Eating the Watervine?. Though this makes completing the quest far easier, it is not necessary to obtain a corpse from these girshlings, and in fact a defanged girshling corpse obtained from any source will satisfy the quest's requirements.
