Fungal roots snake-hold the dirt, and a trio of blunted hyphae with beaks peer from their roosts atop ropy, craning necks. Each one widens to make a cryptic declaration that resonates like a tremor in the deep rock.

Recall Story
As with most stories of the salt pans, the origin of Small Problems is an ongoing puzzle.
The most popular hypothesis, that she was spawned somehow from the molting of Agate Severance Star's facial glowcrust, has been neither proven nor refuted. Agate refuses to comment, as she is inclined to do towards personal matters. Problems herself is of course no more helpful (if much more forthcoming) and her strange minds offer a telepath few handholds toward understanding.
Another origin posits that she was a lowly mold growing on the edges of the Chrome Ward, fed by discarded scraps and sanitary mishaps until she had body enough to properly steal food. This origin is a typical explanation for her rapid early growth, as well as the graduation from stealing food to demanding it verbally.
Of the rumors I heard, my favorite to date is that she is the very spirit of Kitchen Heptagon, awakened to challenge us in our day-to-day and demand the boldness and ingenuity we all pursue.
