mirror bug
It glints as it scuttles beneath an alighted exoskeleton of angled glass.
Mirror bugs spawn from quartziferous mirrors.
Whenever a mirror bug takes damage, they deal the same amount of damage back to their attacker due to their intrinsic damage reflection quality.
Tips
This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
- Despite their low hit points and merely passable other stats, mirror bugs can be incredibly dangerous because they reflect the entirety of the damage they take back at their attackers, unlike quartz baboons. Combine this with the fact that you usually only see them spawning together in swarms, and they represent a deadly high-level threat.
- The best way to deal with them is to quickly prevent more from spawning. This can be done by kiting the insects away until you get a clear shot/path to the mirror spawning them. You can also teleport right up to the mirror and give it a quick smash.
- Some methods of dealing indirect damage, such as poison or corrosive gas, will also damage the creator of the damage.
- Resistance to the damage type, such as heat damage from burning, will prevent the full damage from being reflected.
- Using the blood-gradient hand vacuum is a safe method of killing Mirror bugs, as the healing from the gun is proportional to the damage dealt, which partially negates the reflected damage.
