nondeterministic core

A curtain of blue, magenta, and scarlet hangs over the sacred hold of moon-and-sun shade and hypernova gold (color specifications handed down directly from the machinic being who ensued from the entheos within). Raw amateriality is titrated out the container boundary and canaled in managed doses to processors that crack it in order to do the uncomputable: decide from nothing.

Perfect

The nondeterministic core is an ark located at The Great Siach, in the Northern Ark at North Sheva. It may be interacted with to destroy Resheph, and thus influence the ending.

Opening

The player may choose to open the nondeterministic core if the player has defeated both of the hexacherubim at The Great Siach. If they have not been defeated, then the player will be informed that "The protective force of the cherubim prevents you from opening the ark."[1]

If the hexacherubs have been defeated, then the player will be asked to confirm with the message "Opening the ark will expose its nondeterministic core to the chamber's ambient normality and irrevocably damage Resheph. Continue?" On confirming, the message "The North Sheva superstrate evanesces, and the latches that prevent descent unlock." will appear, and 1000 units of cryogenic mist will be produced from each nondeterministic core segment.[2]

Alternately, the player may choose to break the nondeterministic core with a Hand-E-Nuke or other method. This will cause the hexacherubim to become aggressive towards the player, and on being broken, the player will be informed that "The ark was broken."

When the nondeterministic core is either opened or destroyed, each of the hologram projectors in the zone will break, and their respective holograms permanently deactivated. They cannot be repaired. This conclusively locks the player out of speaking with Resheph, and therefore from the Covenant or Accede ending types. However, the graphene ribbon at the Arrivarium will become operational, and the player may descend and return to Qud using it.[3]

If the nondeterministic core was opened or broken, the victory description will state that "you destroyed Resheph."[4] Additionally, in the case where the player chooses to go into space on the Exodus at the Starfarer's Quay and achieve a Launch ending, Qud will not be Ruined even if they have not annulled the Gyre.[5]

Tips

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
  • The ark may be opened if the hexacherubs are not alive in The Great Siach. Technically, this means you don't necessarily need to kill them, just ensure that they are not in the same zone as the nondeterministic core.
