tumbling pod

A shoot-foot rhizome pod jitters on the dirt and sheds its brittle out-material. They seek a hot vessel to deliver their explosive gift.

Perfect

A tumbling pod is a self-destructing minion created by feral lah. When a tumbling pod is beside a creature it is hostile towards, it will stop moving and begin to flash. Two turns after it start flashing, it will detonate, creating a ♥6-16 damage explosion over a 3x3-tile square centered on itself. If a tumbling pod's ♥HP is lowered to 0, it will detonate before it dies.

When a tumbling pod explodes, it does not die normally - it ceases to exist. This can create unusual scenarios:

  • When the player character "kills" a legendary tumbling pod, a change in reputation will not trigger.
  • When a tumbling pod allied with the player character, such as one created by a feral lah the player sprouted using Burgeoning, kills a legendary creature by detonating, a change in reputation will not trigger; the legendary creature will die because of an explosion, but as the creature who caused the explosion no longer exists, the death will not be traced back to the player character.
  • When a dreamcrungle's Crungling Gaze inserts the player into the body of a tumbling pod, the player will not return to their previous body if the tumbling pod detonates. To return to their previous body, the player must use the main menu to abandon the crungled pod before it explodes.

Tips

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
  • Detonating tumbling pods at range with missile weapons is a fairly obvious tactic, but in particular arranging to detonate them right next to the feral lah which is creating them, damaging it, can help minimize the problem.
