Shem -1's dialogue is chosen from one of the following:

Shem -1

Approach. Be easy. You are my herefriend, my nowfriend.

Shem -1

Would you like to read me a story?

Shem -1

I know of so many other ways to be.

Shem -1

Where does it end?

Shem -1

I live, but do I drink?

Shem -1

Would you like to eat vapor?

Shem -1

Quetzal, I say.

Shem -1

*Shem nods.*

Shem -1

The gaseous butterfly flits out of the dense worm.

Shem -1

I am sharp. I am handy.

Shem -1

*Shem yawns.* I am yawning.

Shem -1

'Immaculate Chrome' is my favorite.

[1] I'm glad you are safe, Shem. Available only after completing A Call to Arms.
[2] What do you think of Klanq's visit? Available only after completing Tomb of the Eaters.
[3] You're a chromeling... that speaks? Can you understand me?
[4] Why are you called Shem -1?
[5] I am your friend, Shem.
[6] Live and... remain ever rustless. [End]

YouAreSafe

Shem -1

I am glad you are safe, (player name).

[1] Why are you called Shem -1?
[2] I am your friend, Shem.
[3] Live and... remain ever rustless. [End]

Klanq

Shem -1

I wonder if the distributed consciousness of a fungal entity is similar to that of a distributed machine mind. I shall ask Father when he is not so busy.

[1] Why are you called Shem -1?
[2] I am your friend, Shem.
[3] Live and... remain ever rustless. [End]

Speak

Shem -1

Is... is this a question trick? I suppose I cannot know what you intend. Can I understand you?

[1] I just meant to ask if you're able to communicate. It seems so.
[2] Why are you called Shem -1?
[3] I am your friend, Shem.
[4] Live and... remain ever rustless. [End]

Understand

Shem -1

What kind words. It seems so with you, too.

[1] Why are you called Shem -1?
[2] I am your friend, Shem.
[3] Live and... remain ever rustless. [End]

-1

Shem -1

Would you like to hear? When I was first put together by Father and friends, I was Shem 2, the second iteration of the make-me project.

As I came along, scampered through the halls, listened to the stories Neek read me, climbed onto Sparafucile's workbench to have my screws replaced, I realized I was not what I could be. And so I downgraded myself to Shem 1.

That has happened three times.

[1] Are you worried that you're getting further away from your ideal self?
[2] You're a chromeling... that speaks? Can you understand me?
[3] I am your friend, Shem.
[4] Live and... remain ever rustless. [End]

Worried

Shem -1

It's unclear to me that I should be.

[1] You're a chromeling... that speaks? Can you understand me?
[2] I am your friend, Shem.
[3] Live and... remain ever rustless. [End]

Friend

Shem -1

I am your friend, (player's name).

[1] You're a chromeling... that speaks? Can you understand me?
[2] Why are you called Shem -1?
[3] Live and... remain ever rustless. [End]

Shem -1

Should I hide in the library? I believe it's the clever thing to do.

[1] Stay safe, Shem. [End]
