Matted fronds sway in the air currents and speckle the ground with flakes of moisture-sucked rust.
A qudzu is an immobile creature that appears on walls. Generally, if there is one of them, there will be many more of them in the same zone. Zone names containing the word "rust" also generally foreshadow their presence, where they may appear on a wall-like tree such as a shimscale mangrove tree.
Qudzu have a melee attack that can rust metal items held by those it manages to hit. Its frond weapon has a 15% chance on hit to rust a random equipped or held inventory item of its target. The qudzu's attack does not need to penetrate to apply this effect.[1] Organic materials such as wood, as well as lacquered items, do not rust and can be used freely with no risk. Additionally, items stored inside of chests are also protected from rusting.
Tips
- Attacking from range is one of the safest ways to protect your equipment from rusting, although it can be hard to hit qudzu that are in concave corners.
- If you can reliably one-shot qudzu with an attack, Charge can be a very effective way to kill them before they have a chance to rust your equipment.
- As mentioned above, items in chests cannot rust. Storing any rustable items in chests, or even dropping them on the ground, will stop qudzu from rusting your equipment.
